Ingredients

50 g/2 oz short-cut macaroni

600 ml/1 pt/2
1/2 cups
milk

g/1 oz/2 tbsp caster (superfine)
sugar

1
egg, beaten
-
Butter, for greasing

Grated nutmeg,
for
dusting
Method:

Soak the macaroni in the milk for 1 hour. Bring to
the boil, reduce the heat and cook very gently until
the macaroni is tender.

Stir in the sugar. Allow to
cool slightly, then add the egg.

Turn into a
buttered ovenproof dish, dust with nutmeg and bake
in a preheated oven at 140°C/275°F/gas mark 1
for about 40 minutes or until set.
