Dessert Recipes - Almost Tiramisu Recipe
Ingredients

4 trifle sponges

150 ml/2/3 cup
strong black coffee

1 packet of egg custard or
crème caramel mix

450 m/2 cups
milk
-
15-30 ml/1-2 tbsp
brandy or
coffee liqueur

150 ml/2/3 cup
double (heavy)
or whipping cream,
whipped

15 ml/1 tbsp drinking
(sweetened) chocolate powder
Method:

Break up the sponges and place in a shallow, round
dish. Add the coffee and leave to soak.

Make up the
egg custard or crème caramel with the milk according
to the packet directions and leave to cool slightly.

Stir in the brandy or liqueur. Gently pour over the
sponge, leave until cold, then chill until set.

Spread the whipped cream over and dust with drinking
chocolate before serving.
Note:
if you use a crème caramel mix, reserve the sachet of
caramel. Drizzle over sliced bananas and fromage frais
or plain yoghurt for another dessert.
