Dessert Recipes - Mock Rum Babas Recipe

Ingredients

• 100 g/4 oz/1/2 cup granulated sugar

• 150 ml/2/3 cup water

• 30 ml/2 tbsp rum or water with rum essence (extract) to taste

• 6 ring doughnuts

• Whipped or aerosol cream, to decorate

• Chopped pistachio nuts

Method:

1. Dissolve the sugar in the water. Boil for 5 minutes until syrupy. Stir in the rum.

2. Prick the doughnuts all over with a skewer and place on a serving plate.

3. Slowly spoon the syrup over the doughnuts and leave to soak well.

4. Fill the centers with whipped cream and sprinkle with chopped pistachio nuts before serving.
