Dessert Recipes - Swiss Torte Recipe
Ingredients
-
Oil, for greasing
-
4
chocolate mini
Swiss (jelly) rolls
-
15 ml/1 tbsp
powdered
gelatin
-
30
ml/2
tbsp water
-
5 ml/1
tsp instant coffee powder
-
425 g/15 oz/1
large can of custard
-
45 ml/3 tbsp drinking
(sweetened) chocolate
powder
-
1
sachet of Dream Topping mix
-
150 ml/2/3 cup
cold milk
-
25 g/1 oz/1/4
cup plain
(semi-sweet) chocolate, melted
Method:
-
Lightly
oil a 15 cm/6 in
deep, round
loose-bottomed cake tin (pan). Cut the ends off the
Swiss rolls and chop. Put to one side.
-
Cut each roll
lengthways into four slices. Arrange the slices all
round the sides of the prepared tin.
-
Sprinkle the gelatin over the water and coffee in a small bowl
and leave to soften for 5 minutes. Stand the bowl in
a pan of hot water and stir until completely
dissolved (or heat briefly in the microwave).
-
Remove
from the pan. Stir into the custard with the
drinking chocolate. Leave until on the point of
setting.
-
Make up the Dream Topping with the cold
milk. Fold into the just setting custard. Turn into
the prepared tin.
-
Scatter the chopped Swiss roll on
top and drizzle with the melted chocolate. Chill
until set. Remove from the tin and serve cold.
