Blancmange Recipe
Ingredients

300 g/11 oz/1 medium can of
strawberries in syrup
-
Cold milk
-
45 ml/3 tbsp corn flour (cornstarch)
-
Caster (superfine)
sugar, to taste
-
Pink food
coloring (optional)
-
15 g/1 tbsp unsalted (sweet) butter
-
Smooth Strawberry Sauce
(optional), to serve
Method:

Puree the can of strawberries and make up to 600
ml/2 1/2 cups with milk.

Blend the corn flour
with a little of the mixture in a saucepan, then
stir in the remainder.

Bring to the boil and cook
for 2 minutes, stirring all the time, until
thickened and smooth.

Sweeten to taste, add a few
drops of pink food coloring, if liked, and stir in
the butter.

Turn into a wetted 600 ml/2 1/2 cup wetted jelly (jello) mould. Leave until
cold, then chill until set.

Turn out on to a serving
plate and serve with Smooth Strawberry Sauce, if
liked.
