Sauce,

Method:
-
Sift the flour and ginger into a bowl. Stir in the
breadcrumbs and suet. Add the egg.

Warm the treacle
and milk in a saucepan. Stir in the bicarbonate of
soda. Stir into the dry ingredients to form a soft,
dropping consistency.

Turn into a 1.25 liter/5 1/2 cup greased
pudding basin. Cover with a double thickness of
greased greaseproof (waxed) paper or foil, twisting
and folding under the rim to secure.

Steam for 2 1/2
hours. Turn out and serve with Sweet White Sauce.
