Dessert Recipes - Steamed Fruit Loaf Recipe
Ingredients

100 g/4 oz/1 cup self-raising flour
-
a pinch of salt
-
5 ml/1 tsp mixed (apple-pie) spice
-
100 g/4oz/1/2 cup caster (superfine) sugar
-
175 g/6 oz/3 cups fresh white breadcrumbs
-
175 g/6 oz/1 1/2 cups shredded (chopped) vegetable suet
-
100 g/4 oz/2/3 cup currants
-
100 g/4 oz/2/3 cup raisins
-
100 g/4 oz/2/3 cup chopped cooking dates
-
A little milk
-
Butter or oil, for greasing

Lemon Honey Sauce, to serve
Method:

Mix together all the ingredients in a bowl, adding
enough milk to form a soft but not sticky
consistency.

Turn into a 750 g/1 1/2 lb greased loaf
tin (pan), Cover with a double thickness of foil,
twisting and folding under the rim to secure.

Steam
for 2 hours. Turn out on to a serving plate and
serve sliced with Lemon Honey Sauce.
