Dessert Recipes - Bananas Foster Recipe

Ingredients

• 40 g/1 1/2 oz/3 tbsp butter or margarine

• 45 ml/3 tbsp light brown sugar

• 1.5 ml/1/3 tsp ground cinnamon

• a good pinch of grated nutmeg

• 4 large bananas

• Any vanilla ice cream, to serve

• Toasted chopped nuts, to decorate

Method:

1. Melt the butter or margarine with the sugar and spices in a flameproof dish.

2. Add the bananas and turn to coat completely. Leave to stand for at least 15 minutes.

3. Place the dish under a hot grill (broiler) for 5 minutes, turning the bananas once, until just cooked and lightly golden.

4. Transfer to plates and top with scoops of ice cream and a sprinkling of chopped nuts.
