Dessert Recipes - Whisky Oranges Recipe

Ingredients

  • 150 g/5 oz/2/3 cup granulated sugar

  • 100 ml/6 1/2 tbsp water

  • 60 ml/4 tbsp whisky

  • 6 oranges

  • Atholl Brose Cream, to serve


Method:

  1. Put the sugar and water in a saucepan. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves, then boil for 2 minutes. Stir in the whisky and remove from the heat.

  2. Thinly pare the rind off one orange and cut into thin strips. Boil in a little water for 3 minutes, drain, rinse with cold water and drain again.

  3. Pare the rind and pith off all the oranges over a bowl to catch any juice. Slice the fruit and place in the bowl.

  4. Pour over the whisky syrup and sprinkle over the thin strips of blanched orange rind. Leave until cold, then chill. Serve topped with Atholl Brose Cream.
